heat death of the univox.

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

practice and writing session in philly this weekend got cut short when swifts amp blew and despite all efforts, we couldn’t keep it running for more than 30 seconds. probably the heat, but who knows. given we drove 7 hours down there and now couldn’t actually play, but were in a huge white room with natural lighting and i happened to have my camera gear with me, we shot an impromptu video for ‘you and all your friends’. no concept, no story, just a series of well framed shots of the band in a cool room with a huge wide angle lens. we’ve got an awesome editor lined up whos worked on some friends videos, and hopefully well have something to share in july. in the meantime, some stills of the raw footage. goofy, i know, but whatever. we had fun.

$9.99 via http://magicbulletrecords.com/mailorder.html
on green or grey marbled vinyl. get on over there while the gettings good.
housed in a huge cardstock booklet with a printed inner LP sleeve, featuring all the information that is awesome to spread out and read while listening to a record. i couldnt be prouder of the final result of this whole project after all this time.

thanks to fedex, who left all the packaging to our copies on my back steps in the rain, a day early then their scheduled delivery, causing the boxes to soak up all the water and rain and collapse the stack down the stairs into the snowbank, a bunch of the packaging got horrifically water-damaged. trust me, this was an awesome site to wake up to. a $2000 print job soaking wet.

If buying a copy of our record in a format you can touch with your actual body seemed a little passé, you can now pick it up at the iTunes store, which means that if you’ve been putting off grabbing a copy you can now do so from the back seat of your car on your fancy futurephone or half-asleep on an open laptop with a couple of touchpad pokes or whatever. The future of digital media! Still kinda creepy to me! Either way I’m gonna be loading this thing up in iTunes a couple of times a day to try and figure out how I feel about being old.
